Guide to using your Rave Circus Fire Bubbler!
First note:
Any use of fire comes with inherent risk. These notes are a guide for the safest possible use of our products and do not guarantee safety. There are always factors that can lead to injury, especially when lighting human flesh on fire. Use this product at your own risk.
What is this prop?
This Is a ‘Fire Bubbler’. It is a tool that allows you to blow soap bubbles with propane gas to create fast burning flammable bubbles.
The bubbles can be burned in the bowl, or the bubbles can be scooped out of the bowl and placed to burn on skin or other non-flammable surfaces.
Other supplies needed for play:
This Bubbler is just one of a few items needed for safe and successful play.
-
Fuel Can: You will need a standard 1qt can of propane fuel that fits securely in the stand.
-
Safety Blanket: This can be a duvetyn fire safety blanket, camel cloth blanket, or something as simple as a wet towel. If an emergency takes place you want to use this to extinguish the flame.
-
Wash Cloth: If you’re using the fire bubbles on a body, a wet washcloth is important for quickly removing and extinguishing the flames if they get too hot for the person being lit. Let that person hold the washcloth so they can quickly respond if it becomes too much before the flames go out.
-
Fire Extinguisher: This is only for emergencies! You should only use it on inanimate objects and surfaces if they become engulfed in flame. Do not point this at living things you want to keep alive! Always have one nearby for emergencies
-
Lighter: You can’t light the torch without a candle or lighter so don’t forget one!
-
Safety kit: In case of burns, you should always have ready access to cool running water, aloe vera gel, sterile non-stick bandages, and a phone in case of more serious emergencies.
-
Safe Space: Don’t play with fire over carpet, dry grass, or other flammable surfaces! Be sure that the area below, around, and above you is free from anything that is potentially flammable for at least 3 feet past your arms reach. Only you and the body your running fire on (if not your own) should be within this danger zone.
A note on clothing:
If you use the fire bubbles on a body be aware of hair as it can ignite. All clothing should be made from natural fibers only: cotton, wool, leather. Keep flames at least 6 inches from hair or synthetic materials like lace, latex, velvet, or satin—they melt fast and can cause serious burns.
As the flame handler, wear natural fibers or expose your own skin. Fire loves the natural touch.
Proper care of Bubbler:
This bubbler can provide you with many years of fun as long as you care for it properly =)
Here are a couple care points that will help you extend the life of your bubbler:
-
Make sure all component parts are securely tightened together before use.
-
If the bowl is leaking from the bottom connection point, stop play and use an aquarium or other waterproof sealant around the washers and connection points to seal the leak before using it again.
-
Only run the propane as long as needed to create a bowl full of bubbles. Don’t leave the gas running without supervision.
-
After use, the water is not contaminated. It is still just soap and water and can be disposed of down the sink. Be sure to rinse and dry the bowl and hardware well after use to remove all residual soap from the bubbler before storing it.
-
Always remove the bubbler from the propane tank after use for storage to prevent accidental gas leakage.
First Aid for Burns
Whenever you’re playing with fire you have to be prepared for the possibility of burns. To treat burns, cool them under gently running water for about 10 minutes. Remove jewelry (unless stuck). If flesh has been broken or damaged (second degree burn) cover with a sterile, non-stick dressing.
Aloe Vera Gel is VERY helpful for healing 1st degree burns. Do NOT apply gels to 2nd or 3rd degree burns! For 2nd or 3rd degree burns seek medical help immediately. You can pour cool water over the dressing to ease pain.
Do NOT apply lotion, prick blisters, use ice, or apply towels/adhesive bandages directly to the burn.
How to use the bubbler
-
Remove black protective cap from the top of your propane tank (if it has one) to expose the threads, then attach the propane tank to the bubbler by screwing it on clockwise.
-
Fill bubbler with water to about 1 inch below the lip of the bowl
-
After filling the bubbler with water, then gently hand stir in a high quality dish soap like Dawn. Add roughly 1/4 cup of dish soap. Add more if needed for good bubble production (this can take some experimentation and can vary a little with water temperature and altitude).
-
Place the bubbler in its stand and make sure you have it somewhere it’s safe from spills and at least 6 feet from flammable materials.
-
Turn on the propane nozzle and watch the bubbles form in the bowl until the bowl is full to the lip with bubbles, then turn off propane.
-
Scoop bubbles out of bowl, move away from bowl, and ignite them as you choose. They will burn big, hot, and fast, so be ready for a flash and a heat wave! If done right, it shouldn’t burn the skin before burning out.
-
If the flames get too big and hot you can blow on the flames to extinguish them more quickly. NEVER BLOW TOWARD ANOTHER PERSON OR FLAMMABLE OBJECT! You can also quickly cover the flames with a wet washcloth or towel to quickly extinguish them. The flames on skin can go from comfortable to too hot quickly, so we recommend you let the person being lit hold the wet washcloth or towel themselves so they can get to it as soon as needed.
-
WARNING: Heat rises! Always keep the bubbles on top of your skin or other surface, don’t put skin or flammable surfaces above the flame! Flames can reach from 6 inches, up to 3 feet in the air so keep the area above the flame clear!
