Rave Circus (née The Flow Shop), was founded in 2015 on the idea that the flow arts community in Arizona needed a space to call their own. Over time, it expanded to incorporate all manner of circus, festival, and rave friends! Founder Nathan Machutta brings almost 20 years of experience in performing and fashion designing to the cutting table to provide Rave Circus with fashion that is expressive, trendy, and practical. He hired on Hayl Daugherty in 2016, who then used her degree in public relation to find new and fun ways for business growth from the inside out.
Our Mission (and Store Policies)
Our store has always been a place of expression, and as such we carry a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY for bigotry and prejudice. From management, to models, to vending team, to customers, Rave Circus values our gender, ethnic, and orientation identities. You will notice that we are making efforts to move away from gendered clothing descriptions and forming a model base that celebrates real people's bodies, not just supermodels who fit the conventional norm. Change starts at a grassroots level, and we are becoming the change we wish to see in the fashion industry
We guarantee our customers are safe to shop without judgement or harassment, and will always put your comfort above sales opportunities. It is our right to refuse service to anyone displaying hate group iconography or being intentionally racist, sexist, homophobic, etc. If at any point someone is making you feel uncomfortable -be it in our shop or elsewhere on Mill Avenue- please let us know and we will help handle the situation.
Safety from harassment also extends to our employees. We strongly disagree with the corporate norm that retail workers have to endure abuse from the public for the sake of upholding "the customer is always right." Management will guiltlessly remove any visitor who behaves belligerently toward workers on the floor.
