1. These pants gather at the ankle so you want some extra fabric to create that 'baggy' look.
2. These pants are 100% cotton which means they will likely shrink by 2 inches or so in length within the first dozen or so washings.

While washing and drying these pants with other soft fabrics on low to medium heat may turn out ok, shrinkage and color fading may occur after the first few washes. Washing or drying on higher heats causes much faster shrinkage and fading.
